Kevin Heffernan was admitted to the California Bar in 1988 and to the United States District Court for the Central District in 1990.  Kevin obtained his undergraduate degree from UC San Diego in 1984 and his law degree from Villanova in 1988. Mr. Heffernan tried and won his first jury trial as a second year lawyer and has been regularly representing defendants before California juries since that time.  He has been first chair trial counsel in jury trials involving quadriplegia, wrongful death, property disputes, inverse condemnation and commercial disputes.  His recent results include a $13 million dollar recovery in an equitable indemnification matter and a victory upon appeal on behalf of a public entity in an inverse condemnation case.  He has been a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) since 2001 and his practice experience includes: complex litigation and catastrophic injury cases, inverse condemnation, property rights, construction, fire claims, trucking, products liability, premises liability, first party claims, and insurance bad faith.  Kevin has successfully tried more than 35 cases to jury verdict in California’s state courts and he has litigated federal court cases as well. Mr. Heffernan has served as a volunteer mediator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court and is regularly is called upon to participate in high stakes trials at the last minute.
